Doug Trump - Recent Work

Featured exhibit, Doug Trump - Recent Work  (January 8 through March, 2015), at Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts is an exhibition of Doug Trump's abstract mixed media work in oil, pencil, and collage.

Doug Trump’s use of paint and collage, employing grids, repeated strokes, and fields of color determines his work’s distinctive style. Each painting is complete within itself, the visual insistence of the piece becoming the narrative, a story or vision entire within each singular work. This exhibit will feature new work from this nationally recognized artist.

Artist’s Statement

An artist might simply mine his vantage point without trying

to decipher and as such, construct an explanation of artistic

intent or motivation, grateful for the circumstance of making art -

and of being alive.

Paintings are not rooted to verbal or written language.

They are fixed without hindrance upon their own bearings.

The issue for the artist is to work. Without this there is no new

visual actuality to engage. And the possibilities of anyone’s

involvement and subsequent response to that work are up for

time to provide.
