I always had the urge to create. As a child I doodled, and built things with Legos, and made cities out of all of our toys. I never really got the hang of the whole drawing and painting thing, so thank goodness for scissors, glue, and all kinds of books and magazines that people don't want anymore. The coolest part of being a collage artist is the thrill of discovery. Finding materials at a thrift shop or by the side of the road, and witnessing the chance encounters of random images as they come together to forge new realities and forgotten ones. I don't do "cutting edge" (no pun intended) art, and I'm not sure if it makes people think. But I hope it sparks the imagination, delights the inner child, and makes people smile.
